It's a good day in the stables when none of the horses are injured or ill. Siegfried has taken to checking in about once a week, ostensibly to catch any problems early for horses who haven't been taken out in a bit, but in reality largely to get Riftwatch's horses used to him. A bond of trust can make all the difference in a crisis, he knows well, and it's something of a luxury (at least in some ways) to be based in one organization at length.

He's running a hand over a horse's shoulder, affectionate but also checking that everything is in good order. When the newcomer speaks, both Siegfried and the horse glance that direction. Siegfried doesn't raise his voice, trusting that the new recruit is close enough to hear when he says, "I'm Farnon. I'm a veterinarian, so I'm don't exclusively work in the stables, but I'm here often enough. New arrival?"

Siegfried can hardly begrudge someone a preference for horses over people. He holds the same opinion himself. Still, no need to be impolite.
